  1. I love this:

There’s one answer, it’s in the back….don’t look!

Seriously, though, I’ve been thinking quite a bit about education and my approach to it. The advantage of schooling at home, of course is having the freedom to “go with” each child and their individual talents, interests and such. BUT, I also wonder about how very very important are things like memorizing the multiplication tables at a certain age, etc. It can cause me to get stressed out when I see one kid doing well and another not so much in one area.

I feel like I should really lighten up in some ways and realize that I can do this differently.

I’m linking to this over at my blog.

    1. Hi Ma, I feel the same way and will be writing some about our homeschool experiences some time later. Basically, in a nutshell, after homeschooling four children we have come to appreciate how wonderfully God has built into each child his own interests and motivations to grow through curious seeking and belief in Jesus.

I am so sorry for children who have to endure their formative years in so much grueling directed curriculum that leads so many of them away from self education. Life is so full of wonderful avenues of beauty and joy, I hope for all the children who have no opportunity to be free in homeschool to develop their own interests and joys of learning.
